Highest park of Europe
The National Nature Park Les Écrins holds a lot of ‘titles’. Stretching over more than 90.000 ha, it is the biggest French national park, but it is also the highest set park of Europe, with more than one hundred summits higher than 3000 metres, with the Barre des Écrins in particular, that culminates to 4102 metres. It holds splendid mountain pastures and glaciers, with great wildlife. During a stroll, you will see eagles, ibexes, marmots, chamois, etc. Non less than 167 rare species live here and you’ll find more than 1800 flower and plant species, in other words: 40% of the French flora!
